Summer is Here

Finally we have had a few nice days and I feel like summer has actually arrived.  It's so great to see the sun, the blue sky, flowers blooming and the bees buzzing around.

To think I only have one week left of work is a bit scary. I'm not quite sure where the second half of the year has gone actually.  I'm pretty much sorted with my Christmas presents thank goodness, as it's really busy out there on the roads and in the shops.  I'm going to spend the next week staying away from the shops as much as possible and spending my time baking some Christmas treats and organsing what I'm going to make for Christmas dinner. 
 

I might go out Christmas Eve though, just so I can feel that Christmas spirit.  Christmas time is my favourite time of the year.  In New Zealand it's quite different to the northern hemisphere.  Raspberries, cherries, sunshine, barbeques, jandals, flowering pohutukawa trees, the beach, sunscreen, picnics, icecream, frisbee, al fresco dining, new potatoes and peas, baby carrots and pavlova is what we have.  No brussel sprouts for us haha!  I somehow think that a winter Christmas just seems so right and how it should be, but I've never experienced one. Strangely, we can still buy snowmen and snowflake Christmas decorations, we listen to songs like a White Christmas, Let it Snow and Frosty the Snowman.  It's all very strange when you think about it, isn't it!  

I'm so ready for summer and so ready for Christmas!  I wouldn't actually want to give up my summer Christmas - it really is the best time of the year.
